Welcome to the web site of the Sacandaga Protection Committee. Formed in 2009 in response to proposed changes to the 80 year old Sacandaga Lake permit system, the SPC's mission is to protect the environmental, economic and legal interests of the entire lake community. Although the permit system rule changes have been put on hold, the SPC continues to support the interests of the lake community. The SPC is active in several onging issues with potential impact to the lake community.
Glen LaFave who has served as the Executive Director of the Hudson River Black River Regulating District since 2005 retired on this week. Mr. LaFave has been replaced by Michael Clark the Hudson River Area Administrator. Read the Leader-Herald story - River District Director Retires of August 20, 2010.
The School Districts of Broadalbin-Perth, Northville and Mayfield are preparing to sue Fulton County over unpaid taxes from the Hudson River Black River Regulating District. Typically, if school taxes on a property go unpaid the County would pay the taxes and foreclose on the property; however, since the property is owned by the HRBRRD, a state agency, foreclosure is not an option.

Vice Chairwoman Pamela Beyor was replaced by Chaumont resident Thomas Stover at the HRBRRD Board meeting on July 13, 2010. Beyor's term had expired; however, she had been continuing to serve on the Board. A seat on the Board remains open as Governor Paterson has yet to name a replacement for Audrey Dunning who resigned in March.
